Deceit (summer 06)
The power lines are the only thing anchoring the sky.
The stone bridge, to hold the lines of trees in place.
Otherwise
otherwise they will change their minds,
switching places so that the lights we light our lives upon
will have chlorophyll, and
rain will fall in root systems.
The heart is deceitful above all things.
So slip and fall
because the whispy trees won't hold you up,
racing atop the skin of the soil
in the fury of the wind
The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure.
Don't
move my power lines or
touch my stone bridge.
(A huff, a puff, and I cried as the straw house blew down)
